How to Combat Post-Spring Break Blues

Post Spring Break Blues are a real thing. Whether you were in a snowy wonderland, lounging at the beach, or just enjoying sometime at home, getting back into you daily routine is hard. With warm weather and summer break within reach, the only problem is: school. Here are some ways to motivate yourself so we can all get through the final weeks of this semester together.

Organization is key.

Get out those syllabi that you haven’t looked at in months and write down every due date and set up an attack plan. Homework is probably the last thing you want to do but putting things off to last minute only causes stress. Breaking things up will make your semester seem like a breeze and who knows, maybe you could leave Wells before 2am.

Surround yourself with people that build you up.

Finding a strong community whether it is with your teachers, people who you met through a club on campus, or your roommates, having people there to be your cheerleaders when you need it the most is key.

Remember why you are here.

I know when I am at school, I take going to IU for granted. I sometimes lose sight of why I am here and my goals that I have for myself. We are all here for a reason and we need to make our time at IU count. Motivate yourself by looking over your goals and go for them. And once you have accomplished a goal, treat yourself!

Take breaks.

Not every minute needs to be focused on school and your studies. Go on a walk, meet someone for coffee, or watch so beloved Netflix. Take little moments for yourself that will leave you inspired to work your hardest through the end of the semester.

I know it’s hard, but we will make it! As the semester is coming close to the end, we can look forward to summer and graduation approaching for seniors. Here’s to finishing this semester strong together!

“Be a wolf. Be a lion. Set goals. Smash them. Be stronger. Be better. Show people who you are. Never apologize for being awesome. Stay positive. Stay the course.”
