RPTS Focus Fair

It is a new year with new career opportunities! On January 27th, there will be a career focus fair for students in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Studies. It will be held in PH 163 from 10:30AM-1:30PM. Students can expect to find a variety of organizations that will hopefully align with some of their career interests.

The following industries are offering various positions and internships:

Arts & Music 

Cardinal Stage Company: cultivate a lifelong passion for the stage by offering diverse, high quality productions in tandem with outreach and educational initiatives that contribute to the cultural and economic vibrancy of South-Central Indiana.
Music for All Inc: create, provide, and expand positively life changing experiences through music for all

Event Planning

American Diabetes Association: assist in the planning of Tour de Cure, a series of fundraising cycling events
Oliver Winery: host large-scale tour groups, manage internal meeting services, corporate retreats and receptions, bridal events, concerts, and festivals.
Social Butterfly Wedding Planning: leading wedding planning and design studio
Vision Event Management: assist organizations in their event management, but to produce and manage first-class fitness events

Hospitality & Tourism

Fourwinds Lakeside Inn & Marina: offers a relaxed elegance in a family-friendly environment on Monroe Lake
American Cruise Lines: largest U.S. cruise company and operates the newest fleet of riverboats and small cruise ships around the country.
Indiana State Parks (Park Inns): operate 7 Inns & Lodges throughout Indiana- positions include: guest service agents, housekeeping, food service, laundry, maintenance and much more
White Lodging: dedicated to its mission of maximizing the value of every asset as well as its core values of growth, accountability, ethics, impact, reliability and genuine care.
Visit Bloomington:
markets the county’s natural, cultural, sports and recreational, historical, and business attractions to meeting groups and vacation travelers


Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art: non-profit art institution located in the White River State Park
Indiana State Museum & Historic Sites Corporation: represent the Indiana stories as well as the cultures of our state
Indiana University Art Museum: grown from a small university teaching collection into one of the foremost university art museums in the country
T.C. Steele State Historic Site: comprised of the original 211 acres owned by Indiana artist, Theodore Clement Steele
WonderLab Museum of Science, Health and Technology: provides opportunities for people of all ages to experience the wonder and excitement of science


Boys & Girls Clubs of Bloomington: youth serving guidance organization whose mission is to empower all young people
Girls Inc – Monroe County: strive to meet the needs of the girls in our community through exciting, research-driven programming, sound mentoring, and our supportive, all-girl environment
Indianapolis Zoological Society: largest privately funded zoo in the United State- global leader in animal conservation and research
Make-A-Wish Foundation – Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana: grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joythis office serves the entire state of Indiana in regards to wish granting and fundraising


Parks & Camps

Broad Ripple Park: a national model of excellence and destination for facilities and programs, protecting parks, greenways and open spaces and championing environmental initiatives
Brownsburg Parks & Recreation Department: looking for a variety of camp, fitness, youth-focused, and community (large) event positions
Camp Tecumseh YMCA: coed Christian camp with a long history (over 85 years) of providing excellent staff, program and facilities to 500 campers per week.
Carmel & Clay Parks & Recreation Department: contributes to the community’s outstanding quality of life by providing enriching, enjoyable escapes through recreation, fitness, and nature
CERA Sports/Ceraland Park: 345 acre park with indoor & outdoor sports, campground, fitness center, outdoor aquatic center, and other outdoor recreation facilities
City of Bloomington Parks & Recreation: provide essential services, facilities and programs necessary for the positive development and well-being of the community through the provision of parks, greenways, trails and recreational facilities while working in cooperation with other service providers in the community in order to maximize all available resources
Danville Parks and Recreation: strives to “create community through, people, parks and programs”
Monroe County YMCA: nonprofit health and wellness facility that provides programs for all ages


Social & Human Services

Ferraro Behavior Services: community-based Recreation Therapy service provider for the state of Indiana waiver program- concentrate on providing quality service for Individuals with Disabilities
Girl Scouts of Central Indiana: leadership organization for all girls no matter of their background

Sports & Recreation

DistinXion, Incorporated: non-profit organization founded by the Zeller family to provide a way to integrate elite character and sports training to help build family relationships
IU Outdoor Adventures: offers students the opportunity to learn adventure skills, experience personal growth, and challenge themselves in new ways
